Köprülü Canyon National Park

Köprülü Canyon National Park

Köprülü Canyon National Park is located 63 km northwest of Manavgat district of Antalya province and 85 km northeast of Antalya province. This region, which covers an area of 366.140 decares in the location of the Köprüçay (Köprü) river and the historical city of Selge within the borders of Manavgat district, was reserved and declared as a National Park in 1973. The rift valley formed by Köprüçay, which constitutes the source value of the National Park, between Bolasan village and Beşkonak is one of the longest canyons in Turkey with a length of 14 km and a wall height exceeding 100 meters.
Born in the Taurus Mountains and passing through canyons of natural wonder, Köprüçay flows into the Mediterranean Sea south of Serik. The Köprüçay, fed by the groundwater in the canyons, which are steep on both sides and almost impossible to climb, constitutes one of the most beautiful natural recreation areas in Turkey. In addition, the ancient city of Selge, located in the mountainous terrain to the west of the river; many archaeological resources such as castles, aqueducts, Roman bridges and historical roads on the banks of the river increase the importance of Köprülü Canyon.
